Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire outside a Portsmouth home after a skip caught ablaze.

Pictures and video from the dramatic incident, which took place in Derby Road, North End at about 3.30am this morning (Wednesday, June 19), show at least three firefighters in attendance using a hose to entinguish the fire. A plastic bin in close proximity to the fire melted due to the immense heat.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Southsea firefighters responded to a fire on Derby Road in Portsmouth at 03:50 am this morning (June 19). The blaze involved a skip and a small domestic bin. Using one hose reel and one jet, the fire was swiftly extinguished. Crews returned to their station after the stop message at 04:25 am.”
